Does K9 Praventa 360 for Dogs compare to K9 Advantix® II from Bayer?

K9 Praventa 360 for dogs contains Imidacloprid, Permethrin & Pyriproxyfen, the active ingredients found in K9 Advantix II.

The active ingredients show a different percentage level on K9 Praventa 360 when compared to Bayer’s K9 Advantix II.  Does that mean there is less active in each dose?

No, the dose volume is slightly bigger on the K9 Praventa 360, therefore you need less active as a percent of the total dose but it delivers the same amount of active as the K9 Advantix II.

Is it safe to apply K9 Praventa 360 on my dog if I have a cat?

K9 Praventa 360 can be used on a dog that lives in the same household as a cat, however, the cat or cats – particularly those that like to be close to or groom dogs – should be kept separated from a dog that has been treated for about 48 hours, after which time it’s safe for the animals to interact again.

Is it okay to use a flea and tick shampoo and apply a topical spot-on at the same time?

It is not recommended to use multiple flea and tick treatments on your pet at the same time.

After I applied K9 Praventa 360 on my dog, it started scratching and rolling around.  Should I take my dog to the veterinarian?

This is known as paresthesia and is often temporary.  Your dog is experiencing a tingling sensation which may cause them to roll or scratch due to this unfamiliar sensation.  It is recommended to wash the product off your dog immediately. If it continues or worsens call your veterinarian.

After I applied K9 Praventa 360 on my dog it started salivating and having tremors.

If your dog continues to scratch, have tremors or salivate wash the topical off of your pet immediately and call your veterinarian.

Can I use the same size of topical on my two dogs?

You need to apply the product on your dog that matches their weight break.  If your dogs are different weights, they should use the product properly labeled for their individual weights.    The danger is in the dose so it is important to use the appropriate product for both safety and efficacy reasons.

Is it important to have a product that has repellency versus a kill claim for fleas and ticks?

It is very important to have a repellency claim especially if pets are exposed to high levels of infestation. Ideally the pest will be repelled and not treat your pet as a host and minimize flea bites and sucking ticks.
